How to Contact the Surgery & Request an Appointment
🩺 Requesting an Appointment (Monday–Friday)
1. Best way: Use our AccuRX Request Form
Submit a Medical Request online between 8:00am and 6:30pm
We will respond within the same working day. Please give as much detail as you can so we can assess your needs safely.
2. Phone the surgery
Call 01494 434344, Monday–Friday 8:30am–6:00pm.
If you cannot complete the online form, our reception team will do it with you over the phone.
3. Visit the surgery
Come in and speak to reception, Monday–Friday 8:00am–6:00pm.
Reception can complete the online form for you.
4. Use the NHS App or NHS Website
You can use your NHS account to:
✔️ request prescriptions
✔️ view health information
If you do not have an NHS account, please complete a Subject Access Request Form and tick ‘Online Access’.
What Happens Next?
We use the information you provide to book you with the most suitable doctor, nurse, or health professional.
Your consultation may be:
- 📞 by phone
- 🧑⚕️ face-to-face
- 💬 by text or email
Phone, text, and email consultations may mean you are helped more quickly.
Urgent requests
We aim for a doctor or healthcare professional to contact you within 24 hours.
If you feel you cannot wait, please use 111 online or call 111.
Routine requests
We aim to offer you an appointment within 2 weeks of receiving your online form.
If You Need Help With Your Appointment
Please tell us if you:
- prefer a specific clinician
- prefer phone, face-to-face, text, or email
- need an interpreter
- have any communication or accessibility needs
💊 How Your Pharmacist Can Help
For the conditions below, please see your local pharmacist instead of booking a GP appointment:
- Sinusitis (12+)
- Sore throat (5+)
- Earache (1–17 years)
- Infected insect bite (1+)
- Impetigo (1+)
- Shingles (18+)
- Urinary Tract Infection (women 16–64)
Your pharmacist can treat these and supply medicines where appropriate.
🧠 Mental Health Support
If you are worried about a mental health symptom, visit NHS 111 online or call 111.
You can also refer yourself directly to local talking therapy services (IAPT). These services support conditions such as:
- stress
- anxiety
- depression
- OCD
- phobias
No GP appointment is needed.
🏡 Home Visits
If you are housebound, we can arrange a home visit.
Please call us before 11am if possible.
We will phone you first to assess your needs.
❌ Cancelling or Changing an Appointment
If you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the slot to another patient.
You can cancel:
- through your NHS App / NHS account
- by calling 01494 434344 (automated cancellation available)
- using the cancellation link in your appointment text message
⏱ Did Not Attend (DNA) & Late Policy
- If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, you may need to rebook unless you have called ahead.
- Repeatedly missing appointments may lead to removal from the practice list.
- If you miss 3 appointments in 6 months, we may ask you to register with another GP practice.
Please help us by attending on time or cancelling if you no longer need your appointment.
