Advice for Mental Health Problems

In the event of an emergency situation, you or your Carer should dial 999.

Emergency support can be provided via the A&E departments.

If you already have a point of contact for your mental health needs, then please contact them in the first instance.

For all other problems with your mental health, we have available a regional advice/counselling service called "Healthy Minds".

If you would like some advice, then please self-refer to this service you do not need to see your GP to access Healthy Minds. However, your GP is available to offer advice and discuss the treatment options with you and we work closely with the Mental Health Services as required to meet your care needs.

Patients (adults and children) in Buckinghamshire can now call 111 in order to contact the 24-hour Buckinghamshire Mental Health helpline service. The service is run by Mental Health Practitioners who will triage and refer to appropriate services. Please note the previous telephone numbers for the service are now obsolete.

What happens next?

An initial meeting will be offered to discuss your needs. If it is felt that counselling would help you, a weekly session will be offered.


Chiltern Counsellors Network was established in 2016 by two BACP registered and accredited counsellors.

All Network counsellors are insured, are registered with a professional body and have completed at least three years of training.

Consultations are available at both Chartridge Lodge and across a wide referral network in the Chilterns.
